WHO STUDIED IT?

WHAT WE NEED TO KNOW?

Is red wine good for you?

There has been quite a lot written about the potential good effects of drinking red wine.  Small amounts of red wine may help you relax and actually improve HDL cholesterol.  This small study suggests that there may be some bad effects of even mild alcohol intake.

Don’t despair though.  This was a small study and only looked at the effects on a non-invasive test called an echocardiogram.

Here is the C of H lowdown on alcohol:
Do not drink because you think it may help your heart
A small amount (4 oz wine, 12 oz beer or one ounce of scotch) may be okay, but we do know that more than this is potentially harmful
Alcohol has a lot of calories
There is nothing magical about red wine
